BUSINESS NEEDS

The project stems from A2A’s need to accelerate its evolution by placing the HR Business Partner (HRBP) professional family at the center, which must evolve from operational support to a true strategic change agent, in order to align the role with the new ambitions of the Life Company. The goal is to develop a methodological framework for the entire function, creating a strong, proactive identity capable of giving people management a primary role in the Group’s growth strategy.

From this vision comes HRBP Evolution, the transformation project developed with RADICAL HR to redefine the role’s identity through a Manifesto of values and mapping of future skills. Starting from the analysis of skill gaps, the working team designed development plans to achieve the competencies of the future, thus enabling the creation of a community of practice capable of turning intentions into real impact for the entire organization.

DESIGN

We have structured the journey into 5 key phases:

Benchmarking & Insight

qualitative analysis of best practice HRBP through interviews with HR Directors of major Italian and international organizations to map the future trends of the role.

Identity co-design

two days of intensive workshops with 30 HRBPs to co-create and draft the A2A HRBP Manifesto and the set of new competencies.

Mapping & Awareness

a self-assessment test on the new skills assigned to A2A’s HRBP of the future to identify gaps and internal strengths.

Development plan design

co-design workshop with HRBP managers to define vertical upskilling pathways for the Community in skills validated as priorities by the working group following the work carried out in previous workshops.

Celebration & Community

final event dedicated to the entire HRBP community to share the results, celebrate the project, and mark the launch of the community of practice.

  • 2 New Personas (HRBP Professional and HRBP Manager) defined with specific purpose, challenges, and skill sets.

  • 1 HRBP Manifesto that defines the new positioning.

  • 4 Priority Development Areas identified by leaders: Change Management, HR Tech & AI, Coaching, Workforce Planning.

  • 3 development paths designed

  • 1 reference benchmarking to inspire and inform about role trends
